Objectives pertaining to young women’s issues:
Gender concern is a crosscutting dimension of all Amel’s programs and special emphasis is on women and young women’s issues in terms of selecting beneficiaries and planning activities.
Specific goals:
1. Promoting sustainable development in Lebanon;
2. Insuring the access of target groups to means and resources to improve their social economic status;
3. Increasing awareness among target groups on development issues, and on the significance of their role in the process of change.

Primary Health Care Program (PHC) |
| Objectives: |
1. Prevention of diseases;
2. Raising public awareness on health and medical issues;
3. Promoting reproductive health and family planning;
4. Ensuring general and systematic access to vaccination;
5. Treatment of simple illness;
6. Health education;
7. Supplying basic drugs.

In order to achieve these objectives, Amel ensures the following activities:
1. Providing basic health services;
2. Cooperating and coordinating with governmental and non-governmental organizations working in the same field;
3. Collecting information relevant to the health of the target group;
4. Monitoring and evaluation of health programs to enhance their efficiency

Women, young women and youth in the marginalized areas where Amel operates. The local participation through local committees is a pre-condition in any of Amel’s development programs. |

Finding new resources to cover financial burden since health services are costly, especially those related to preventive health. |

Vocational Training and Educational Opportunities. |
| Brief: |
There are five main programs essentially addressed to women and young women: Sewing, nursing, hairdressing, foreign languages and computer skills. In parallel, functional and advanced literacy sessions are organized for the benefit of deprived women and girls (14-60 years old. |

| Challenges: |
Ensuring the employability of trainees:
Recent evaluation indicates that 33% of the beneficiaries are finding suitable employment, mainly in nursing, hairdressing and laboratory work; 17% are employing their skill for personal use (foreign languages, first aids, sewing and weaving); while 17% remain unemployed.

| Project 3: |
An Integrated Program for Women’s Health and Development. |
| Brief: |
Amel executed an integrated program for women’s health and development. The main focus was on vocational training, literacy, awareness raising sessions and reproductive health services. The project took place in 10 Amel centers across Lebanon and through home visits and awareness sessions at schools. |
