1. Promoting efforts for the eradication of traditional illiteracy;
2. Enhancing women’s knowledge of their rights and responsibilities under the law and the constitution;

Guidelines/ Participation: The participation of young women:
1. As partners at decision-making levels;
2. As presidents of committees;
3. As participants in training and capacity building workshops. 
Project: Be Free 
Objectives: 1. Raising awareness regarding all forms of neglect and abuse against children and youth;
2. Educating and providing practical skills to children to prevent abuse;
3. Educating care-givers, especially parents, on child abuse and neglect;
4. Providing counseling and support for abused children;
5. Enhancing anti-child abuse laws in Bahrain and the region;
6. Establishing shelter and care for abused children and youth. 
Brief: 1. Conducting training workshops to provide children with basic life skills;
2. Raising awareness on violence against children through the media;
3. Contributing to a study regarding role of parents in preventing child abuse.
 
Duration: Since 2003 
Location: Manama 
Target Group: Children and youth victims of abuse and neglect. 
Challenges: 1. Lack of resources;
2. Cultural barriers social stereotypes;
3. Young women are ashamed and afraid to talk about abuse.
 
Future Plans: 1. Establishing a counseling center for victims of abuse;
2. Setting-up a hotline project to provide legal and psychological counseling to victims of abuse.
 
Project 2: Environmental Awareness Project. 
Objectives: 1. Raising awareness on environmental hazards to alter people’s behavior and protect the environment for future generations;
2. Sensitizing the government, civil society institutions and decision makers to take positive initiatives for the protection of the environment, including: environmental education, protective legislation and environmental diplomacy projects focusing on international cooperation for the protection of the environment. 
Brief: 1. Establishing an environmental unit at the kindergarten level, and developing a comprehensive curriculum to raise awareness among young children on environmental issues through practical activities such as competitions and field visits;
2. Setting-up an environmental club for students to raise awareness and positive practice through small-scale projects such as recycling and others.  
Duration: 2001 
Target Group: Children, youth and the entire society.  
Challenges: 1. Lack of resources;
2. Low public awareness of environment issues. 
Funding: Unavailable 
Results: Winning the “Ford Environment Award”, an international fund projected for the protection of the environment. 
Future Plans: Developing a specialized curriculum for the protection of the environment.
