Objectives: 1. Raising awareness on gender equity, equality and rights;

Guidelines/ Participation: Young Women’s Participation:

Project: Women in Power and Decision-Making. 
Objectives: Motivating and assisting women and grassroots to play a more effective role in the Jordanian society, and encouraging them to enroll in public and civic posts. 
Brief: The project was implemented in six villages through a series of training workshops and national forums on the following issues: Gender awareness; communication skills; leadership concepts; women’s civic and religious rights; women and men as partners in decision-making.An interactive play on women’s political participation was produced and IEC (Information, Education and Communication) materials were developed and include: a facilitator’s handbook, a training manual and a video on empowerment activities. 
Duration: April 2001- December 2002 
Location: Lub, Um Qais, Rabbeth, Sweimeh, That Ras and Addassiyeh. 
Target Group: Women in general and grassroots in particular. 
Funding: Friedrich Ebert Stiftung 
Results: 1. A group of 150 regular participants attended the workshops, to form a core group of well informed and trained women;
2. The interactive theatre proved to be an efficient method for community mobilization;
3. Adolescent girls were eager to learn about women’s participation at decision-making levels, which confirms the need to focus on this target group in upcoming workshops. 
Project 2: Promoting Gender Equity. 
Objectives: 1. Supporting the integration of women as equal partners in the development process;
2. Improving the status of Jordanian women by reducing gender disparities and enhancing democratic participation. 
Brief: 1. Capacity building workshops to train village councils, local communities and women on their role in the democratic process;
2. Training workshops on communication and motivational skills for 30 young women to enable them to act as local motivators in their respective communities. The workshops also focused on reproductive health and environmental issues to promote social change and gender equity.
3. Motivational sessions are being implemented by each motivator in her own community to foster behavioral change in the above-mentioned topics. 
Duration: August 2000 – March 2001 
Location: In two villages: Iraq in Karak and Addassiyeh in Irbid. 
Target Group: Women, young women ,village councils and community members.
