Activity Title: About UNRWA - Lebanon  
Brief: UNRWA undertook a number of initiatives to empower Palestinian young people in Lebanon by arranging a number of summer activities for youth in Palestinian camps throughout Lebanon. Joining efforts with UNESCO, NABA’A (local NGO) and other local NGOs, UNRWA has initiated a number of training workshops to train youth to become community animators. One of the main centers for UNRWA’s activities for youth in Lebanon is the “Youth Centre in North Lebanon” that has been designated to empower young Palestinians in Lebanon, targeting mainly school dropouts, and poor Palestinian youth. UNRWA has also been offering technical advice and support for youth at camps in coordination with local NGOs and local communities.

Brief: The paper addressed a major question:
‘To what extent do general education curricula provide students with the knowledge and skills demanded by the job market?’ The working paper outlines the role of school education in providing students with basic knowledge, skills and attitudes while secondly it highlights the experience of UNRWA’s technical and vocational education and training, university level education, the Agency’s efforts in facilitating the employment of Palestinian youth the knowledge and skills of its students and graduates.
