About UNRWA - Syria
Brief:
UNRWA does not run youth centres and does not specifically address male youth with specialized activities in the Syrian Arab Republic, it works effectively with young women and with the physically and mentally challenged persons through its Community Centres, as well as through a team of Community Development Social Workers and qualified volunteers. UNRWA aims at facilitating their socio-economic development, enhancing their role in the family and community, and at promoting the rights and enhancing the well being of the physically and mentally challenged refugees.
Activity Title 2:
Social Services Programme
Brief:
1. Training courses to promote and upgrade skills in: management, computer courses, hairdressing, sewing, embroidery, handicrafts, video picturing, first aid, etc.
2. Awareness raising in which both male and female youth attend and participate in a variety of social, economic, educational, legal, environment and health activities.
3. Educational courses, such as supplementary courses to pupils, literacy courses as well as kindergarten and nursery programmes.
4. Recreational activities for children and young women.
5. Summer camps and summer clubs for children and youth volunteers.
6. Specialized training is provided to volunteer youth physiotherapists and rehabilitation workers working at Community Rehabilitation Centres, targeting outreach services to children with cerebral palsy and their families. Such training also aims to raise the community awareness about disability, to train volunteers in the community, and to develop links between different community services.

Micro-Finance and Micro-enterprise Programme (MMP).
Brief:
UNRWA’s Micro-Finance and Micro-enterprise Programme (MMP), in Yarmouk, Syria, enables the Palestinian and Non-Palestinian entrepreneurs to get access to credit services, including young people.
