Youth programmes that are being implemented based on “Braga Youth Action Plan” and the “World Programme of Action for youth to the Year 2000 and Beyond”:
The implemented activities contribute to the “Braga Youth Action Plan”, Item 22 of the said document by assisting in the formulation/review and implementation of an integrated national youth health policy addressing all major health issues including: sexual and reproductive health. The activities also contribute to Item 23 of the said document by providing the research, which will be used in the design of youth friendly health services and counseling in reproductive health. For the “World Programme of Action to the Year 2000 and beyond”, the Programme contributes to Item 49 of the said document. In many countries, there is a lack of information and services available to adolescents to help them understand their sexuality, including sexual and reproductive health, and to protect them from unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted disease including HIV/AIDS.
