Activity Title: The 4th Annual UAE Global Youth Reunion
Date: 25-31 January 2003
Partners: The Naturalization & Residency Administration of Dubai and supported by UNDP.
Brief: The Global Youth Reunion one-week programme covering various educational and cultural activities, through which, young participants from other countries were introduced to the UAE’s heritage, culture, civilization, and exchange of new experiences and ideas. The main objective of the Reunion is to bridge the gap among the nations of the world through their youth.
The Reunion was initiated after UAE’s participation in the tenth journey of the Ship of the World Youth Journey Programme (SWY), sponsored by the Japanese Government in 1998. The wealth of information and education that was gained from this experience was invaluable, but the participants took note of the misconceptions others had about Arabs and Muslims in general and about UAE. Thus the Reunion was born on a completely non-profit, voluntary basis.
Youth reunions and gatherings, such as this one, help shrink the gaps among nations and bring the world closer together, while promoting peace and understanding around the world.
