	Welcome to the e-forum of the on-line workshop on E-government: policies and strategies in the ESCWA region From 15 January 2007 to 12 March 2007 Dear participants, Thank you for your valuable contribution to the on-line workshop. All workshop documents will continue to be available online and the workshop report will be posted soon. An overview of the workshop ‎ This on-line workshop is a component of the project “Capacity-Building for ICT policy-‎making”, ‎which is executed by the Department of Economic and Social Affairs in ‎collaboration with the ‎United Nations Regional Commissions, UNDP and UNCTAD as ‎part of their activities for the ‎implementation of WSIS recommendations. ‎ ‎ This on-line workshop on “E-government: policies and strategies in the ESCWA region”, ‎aims at ‎contributing to streamlining the process of formulating and implementing e-‎government strategies ‎in accordance with the goals of the World Summit on the ‎Information Society (WSIS). It will ‎provide decision makers with the challenges of e-‎government development in the ESCWA ‎region, best practices of e-government ‎applications in the developed countries, institutional ‎dimensions of e-government ‎strategies and policies, monitoring the progress of e-government ‎applications and ‎measuring their impact.
