ESCWA held two training workshops in Khartoum in October on designing and developing projects as well as on human rights as part of the Commission’s technical cooperation program with Sudan.
The first training workshop was held 1-6 October and was the third in a series of training sessions dubbed “Training program on project design and formulation.” The program came out with a comprehensive project proposal on “Boosting and Upgrading the Productivity of the Arab Gum in Sudan,” and participants honed their skills in the design and formulation of development projects. The thee-part program was a new, effective training model that ESCWA will seek to replicate in other countries.
The second workshop was held in cooperation with the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) on 9-13 October. The “Training Workshop on Human Rights” aimed, by definition, to boost the knowledge and capacities in the field of human rights in Sudan. The country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice’s Consultative Council on Human Rights also contributed to the organization of the workshop.
