Purpose and objectives
The meeting will consider in detail the proposals
put forward for updating/ revising the current set of principles
and recommendations governing population and housing censuses.
Issues for discussion and deliberation will include:

Characteristics of housing censuses
-
Basic components of the Principles and Recommendations of
Population and Housing Censuses, and related outputs
-
Information technology, communication and outsourcing
-
Alternative approaches in census taking.
The
meeting will also seek to consider a regional proposal of
guidelines related to population and housing censuses in ESCWA
countries.
Participation
The meeting will bring together the chairpersons of the working
groups and concerned members of the taskforce. Experts from the
UN Statistics Division and the Economic Commission for Europe (ECE)
will be invited to share their work in the preparation of 2010
Round of population and housing censuses.
Date and venue
The meeting will be held in Abu Dhabi. Details on the venue will
be communicated to you later.
Accommodation and travel arrangements
ESCWA will cover the participation of one representative from
each of its member countries. Participants are requested to send
