Purpose and objectives
The meeting will review emerging alternatives in methodology and
technology of
population and housing censuses being adopted nationally and
internationally.
Some of the issues to be addressed include census management,
geo-coding, the
new innovative approaches such as register-based approach and
rolling censuses,
census technology, and post enumeration technique.
Participation
The meeting will bring together the directors of population and
housing censuses
from the national statistical offices in ESCWA member countries to
share their
experiences in new approaches to carry out population censuses.
Invited countries
include Egypt Jordan, Morocco, Oman, Palestine and Yemen. Experts
from the UN
Statistics Division, and the Economic Commission for Europe (ECE)
will be invited to
attend.
Date and venue
The meeting will be held in Abu Dhabi. Details on the venue will
be communicated to
you later.
Accommodation and travel arrangements
ESCWA will cover the participation of one representative from
each of its member countries. Participants are requested to send
