Focus Area: Water Resources, Treatment and Desalination

Research and development activity on water resources, treatment and desalination are particularly important for ESCWA member countries as they occupy one of the most arid regions in the world. New technologies offer immense possibilities for protection and amelioration of water resources. However considerable efforts will be required in their adaptation with a number of objectives in mind, including the introduction of new materials, processing and quality assurance technologies as well as cost reduction and improved resource management.
