Focus Area: Energy and Environment

Awareness of the need to conserve natural nonrenewable energy resources and to develop environmentally friendly alternatives has been on the rise all over the world. Many ESCWA countries are rich in fossil energy, whether in the form of oil or gas resources. However the region is in need of massive technology acquisition, development and dissemination in order to respond to the needs of ever increasing populations and expectations.
