The Development of National
Gender Statistics Programmes in the Arab Countries (GSP) is
underway in nine participant countries. Click on a country
below for an overview of national work conducted
under the umbrella of GSP.
Work on the national level has been implemented over the course of
three phases according to the GSP work plan (see GSP work plan).
Most participant countries are in the project’s third phase.
Two national workshops have been held in most countries.
These workshops included discussions and recommendations
pertaining to the identification of priority gender issues and the
production of national statistical publications on women and men.
Summaries of these publications
can be found in the documents page.
National work efforts have
also focused on the adoption of gender-specific indicators to
reflect the status of women and men, as well as measure progress
towards gender equality and the empowerment of women.
The table below summarizes
primary activities and outputs that occurred on the national
level. A more comprehensive look at work conducted on the
national level is available in the form of country reports
compiled from documents submitted by these countries.
