Beirut, 28 August 2003 (United Nations Information Service)-The
Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) in
collaboration with the United Nations Headquarters Procurement
Division is holding a seminar on “How to do business with the
United Nations” from 8 to 9 September 2003 at the United Nations
House, Riad Solh Square, Beirut.
The main objective of the seminar, which will open at 9:00 am on
Monday 8 September, is to bring together a range of expertise and
opportunities currently available among Lebanese companies and
decision makers and to enhance awareness of the UN procurement
policies and requirements. The seminar aims to: encourage Lebanese
companies to do business with the United Nations and its different
operations world wide; define UN procurement and highlight the
main types of goods and services procured; explain how companies
can register with the UN; provide information on the types of
solicitation documents, the bidding contact performance, and
payment attended; and share experience gained by the UN and
companies on various issues relating to the UN business
opportunities and on how doing business with the UN could lead to
international exposure for local companies.
Participants in the meeting will be companies of all sizes, which
are interested in entering the UN market for goods and services.
