It also presents methods and mechanisms for monitoring and assessing the effect of information and communications technology (ICT) on educational initiatives. Consideration is given to certain electronic education projects in the region of Western Asia, most importantly the Jordanian education initiative. Several articles review ways of developing electronic education applications and the use of open source software in this field, and experiments with virtual universities in a number of Arab countries.
