Join ESCWA’s Expert Knowledgebase

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is one of the UN Secretariat’s five Regional Commissions with a mandate to promote cooperation and integration between the countries of the region. Covering Arab countries in Western Asia and North Africa, ESCWA seeks to support countries of the region through normative analytical research, standard setting, innovative projects and technical policy advisory work.

In fulfilling its mandate, ESCWA sometimes calls on the expertise and skills of consultants for short term assignments. The professional skills necessary for ESCWA’s work includes:

• Research or field work to produce thematic reports
• Analysis and substantive contributions to ESCWA
• Advisory services to support the needs of member countries
• Capacity Building or training

These assignments cover the range of thematic areas in which ESCWA works, which involve:

• Economic Development
• Social Development
• Sustainable Development
• Gender and Women’s Empowerment
• Information and Communications Technology for Development
• Governance and Post-Conflict Recovery
• Statistics

If you have proven expertise in any of ESCWA’s thematic focus areas and professional skills, you may apply to the Expert Knowledgebase (http://experts.escwa.org.lb) to be considered for future consultancies. Complete applications will be reviewed and vetted by the concerned ESCWA divisions. Being approved in the Knowledgebase is not a guarantee of employment.
