The present Site represents ESCWA initiative to establish a specialized website for blind end-users in the Arab countries. This activity is part of the field project entitled: “Home Page Based On-Line Braille Documentation Center and Dissemination of Information about the Latest Accessible Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) for Blind End-Users”. The said field project represents phase two of an expanded project entitled: “Braille Computer Training for the Blind”.  Both Projects have been implemented by ESCWA in cooperation with the Arab Gulf Programme for United Nations Development Organizations (AGFUND), and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), as funders of the Projects.  

Based on the fact that Al Hadi Institution for Deaf and Blind, a Lebanese NGO, has served as co-executing Agency in the implementation of the two Projects, relevant information about Al Hadi Institution has been covered in this Site. Concerned institutions that are interested to be covered, are encouraged to identify themselves for possible inclusion.
