PREPARATORY CONFERENCE - OUTCOME
The Conference culminated with the declaration of principles (Beirut
Declaration). This declaration was presented to the Second Meeting
of the Preparatory Committee for WSIS, to be reflected in the
declaration and plan of action for the first phase of the Summit in
December 2003. A draft initiative towards a Regional Information
Society was also prepared during the conference for further
discussion and elaboration.
